Felipe Fraquelli and José Irineu were qualified for the Brazilian Youth Sailing Team and will contest the World Championship in Poland
The Radial Laser Allcatrazes Sailing Team athletes had participated of the XXVII Brazilian Youth Cup that occurred at Iate Club of Rio de Janeiro from January 26th to February 2nd. The competition lasted 7 days and were disputed 10 regattas for the 41 entries in the Class.
The gaucho athlete Felipe Fraquelli was the vice-champion, arriving between the Top 5 in almost all of the regattas.
"The championship was hard, the races were very disputed from the beginning to the end and the Top 5 were very close to each other until the last day of the match. End up the championship in second guaranteed the place in the Brazilian Youth Sailing Team and the support of CBVela to participate of the Sub-19 World Championship in august. Now the focus is in training sessions and workout to the Championship in Dziwnów, Poland", explained Fraquelli.
The catarina athlete José Irineu stood in the fourth place, also with a great performance in the Cup.
"The Championship was very disputed until the end between the Top 5. I were qualified for the World Championship in Poland and I have a lot of competitions like the South Brazilian, South American and the Regional at SC and RS. My plan for this year is to prepare myself as much as I can to the World Championship and in good shape. The expectation is very high, and being the best brazilian at the World Championship is one of them!", said Irineu.
The World Championship at Poland will serve as a selective for the Youth World Championship that will happens in Salvador from 6th to 12th of December.
