Allcatrazes athletes have great performance in the Brazilian Optimist Championship and are qualified for the South American

From the 4th to 14th of January, the 48th Brazilian Championship of the Optimist Class took place in Porto Alegre at Clube Veleiros do Sul. The competition was attended by 140 sailors who competed in 7 qualifying races and 5 finals, in addition to the Team Championship. The Allcatrazes Sailing Team athletes Gustavo Glimm, Erick Carpes, Alex Kuhl and Miguel Machado had a great performance in the competition and were in the Top19 classified directly for the South American Championship.

Team Competition

For the team stage, the athletes Glimm and Carpes were part of the champion team. There were a total of 32 races with 16 teams separated by states. The RS1 team was the winner winning the title in the last race of the final against the Pernambuco.

Classification for the South American

At the top of the table, the fight was fierced until the last days of competition. Kuhl and Glimm were in 2nd and 3rd place in the general classification and 1st and 2nd in the Male Youth category, respectively. Miguel Machado also won a podium for the category, being in 4th place, and 8th in the general frame, Erick Carpes was in 11th. See the complete results.

They and 16 other competitors were classified for the South American Games, which will take place in Mar Del Plata, Argentina, from March 21st to 28th.
